Dillian Whyte accused Dereck Chisora of "pantomime" behaviour after his rival threw a table at their pre-fight press conference.
The pair were seated at either end of a long row of desks as they faced the media in Manchester ahead of Saturday's meeting, but the distance did not prevent another clash on the back of their exchange on 'The Gloves Are Off'.
After trading verbal blows with Whyte and his trainer Mark Tibbs, Chisora hurled a table in his fellow Londoner's direction, forcing security to intervene.
With order restored Chisora said the incident had given him "an edge" for the weekend, but Whyte rubbished that suggestion when he spoke to Sky Sports News HQ afterwards.
"Dereck just went crazy as usual, chucking tables left, right and centre," said Whyte.
"You can see I wasn't really bothered. I was sitting there, like, 'okay, Dereck is on the old pantomime again'. I was chilled then and I'm still chilled, I just got a bit animated when he tried to bully my coach.
"He didn't get a response from me - he threw a table and I didn't flinch, I just sat there and looked at him. He started trying to give it to my coach and that made me angry. I don't like bullies."
Whyte added: "The guy's a bit like an animal - you have to deal with him that way, unfortunately, because he only understands aggression. You can't be amicable with someone like that."
