DeGale vs Jack: Callum Smith backs himself to defeat James DeGale or Badou Jack

Callum Smith believes James DeGale will overcome Badou Jack in this weekend's super-middleweight unification fight, with the winner set to face Smith next.

Callum Smith is confident he can deal with the winner of the super-middleweight showdown between James DeGale and Badou Jack.

IBF champion DeGale (23-1 KO14) faces WBC title holder Jack (20-1 KO12) in an eagerly-anticipated unification fight in New York on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 2am.

Smith is currently the mandatory challenger for the WBC strap and will be an interested spectator ringside at the Barclays Center as he sizes up his potential opponents ahead of a first world title shot. 

Ahead of travelling Stateside with trainer Joe Gallagher, the unbeaten 26-year-old insisted he had the beating of both fighters and said he would relish the opportunity to showcase his skills on a world level.

"I am excited and I'm look forward to seeing two of the best super-middleweights in my division," Smith told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I think it's a good fight and if you go on recent performances you could say it's a 50-50. 

"They are both good champions, but I feel, if given the chance, I have got the beating of both of them."

When asked whether he felt DeGale holds the edge over Jack, Smith added: "Yes, I think if the best version of both fighters turns up, DeGale is the better man.

"He's known to switch off in the past and if he does this time, he could come unstuck. 

"But I think a unification fight should bring the best out of him and I think that should be enough for him to come away with the win and both titles."
