Mendoza confirmed that Campbell would become the mandatory challenger to Linares if he can dispatch Perez, the opponent that Anthony Crolla defeated to become world champion.

Crolla, in turn, was beaten twice by current champion Linares who could now favour a fourth fight on British soil, having stopped Kevin Mitchell earlier in his career.
