Olympic bronze medallist Joshua Buatsi has signed for Matchroom Boxing and will make his professional debut on July 1.

The 24-year-old light-heavyweight became the latest Team GB fighter to link up with Eddie Hearn after attracting interest from a number of promoters with his impressive performances at last summer's Rio Olympics.

Buatsi will make his first appearance in the paid ranks on next month's packed bill at The O2, topped by Frank Buglioni's British light-heavyweight title defence against Ricky Summers, live on Sky Sports.

He was the stand-out performer on the men's boxing team in Brazil, displaying his punch power before eventually losing on points to Kazakhstan's Adilbek Niyazymbetov in the semi-finals.

Buatsi joins an exciting undercard of young talent as Ted Cheeseman challenges Matthew Ryan for the English super-welterweight title in an eliminator for the British title, while Reece Bellotti looks to build on his British featherweight title eliminator win over Dai Davies in March.

Lawrence Okolie, a former GB team-mate of Buatsi, is hunting down a fourth straight first round KO in the paid ranks and features on the same bill as potential cruiserweight rival Isaac Chamberlain.
