Dillian Whyte will continue his pursuit of a world title fight in America this summer as he plots a path towards a rematch with Anthony Joshua, says promoter Eddie Hearn.

The Brixton heavyweight was forced to pull out of a scheduled bout with Mariusz Wach through injury and will instead make his US debut in the coming weeks.

Whyte has already worked his way into the top 10 of the WBC and WBO rankings, and Hearn is hopeful he can secure a fight with one of the champions later this year.

Whyte can secure a second fight with Anthony Joshua in the future, says Hearn

"We're going to look to box Dillian in the States in the summer and then we want a world title fight in September or October, whether that's [Joseph] Parker, whether that's Deontay Wilder," Hearn exclusively told Sky Sports.

"He's well ranked in those governing bodies. He's a great opponent, but I don't think they really want to fight him. I don't think Dillian Whyte is the kind of guy you want to pick as a world champion.

He's a nightmare for people, Dillian Whyte, but for some reason Anthony Joshua wants to do it all again with him.

"He's a handful, he can punch, he's got a great chin. He's a handful even in the press conference, you might have to roll around with him at those as well.

"He's a nightmare for people, Dillian Whyte, but for some reason Anthony Joshua wants to do it all again with him. That gives you a good indication - AJ wants real fights - he wants to entertain the public."

Hearn admits Whyte's future options could also include a rematch with Dereck Chisora, or a grudge fight against Lucas Browne, but a second battle with Anthony Joshua is the No 1 target.

"We are trying to get him a shot at a world title," he said. "I believe he can beat Joseph Parker and I believe he can beat Deontay Wilder.

"If he can, that sets up a massive unification fight with Anthony Joshua."
