Butler vs Hall: Jamie McDonnell expects Stuart Hall to gain revenge against Paul Butler

 Stuart Hall

Jamie McDonnell is siding towards Stuart Hall to gain revenge over bantamweight rival Paul Butler.

The pair met three years ago with Hall losing his IBF world title on a split decision, and they meet again at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

WBA world champion McDonnell was in discussions to take on Butler himself earlier this year, but with 'Stuey' - who he beat back in 2011 - finally getting the chance to redress the balance, he is giving Hall the edge.

I just think Stuey wants it more and if he takes it to Butler he could force a good points win.

"This is a funny one because when we were trying to nail down the Butler fight, Stuey was with us, training with my brother, Gavin," McDonnell told Sky Sports.

"He was wishing me well for the Butler fight but in the space of a week, it swung to me wishing him well on fighting him!

"I don't think there's much in it to be fair, but I just think Stuey wants it more and if he takes it to Butler he could force a good points win.

"It's a tasty little fight, that's for sure."

McDonnell will be ringside on Saturday night, taking a break from camp as he is set for a rematch of his own.

Britain's longest-standing world champion takes on Liborio Solis, in Monaco, on November 4, almost a year since he beat the Venezuelan on a controversial points win.

Watch Paul Butler against Stuart Hall, with Rocky Fielding battling David Brophy, Tom Farrell against Ohara Davies and Sean Dodd taking on Tom Stalker, from 7pm this Saturday on Sky Sports Arena
