Kell Brook hopes Conor Benn can "carry the flag at welterweight" by eventually succeeding him as a world champion.
The former IBF title holder was impressed with Benn as he delivered a fight-ending body shot on Brandon Sanudo in the second round of his US debut in New York last weekend.
Brook is considering a step up to super-welterweight after his stoppage loss to Errol Spence Jr last May and believes Benn has shown promising signs that he is a rising contender in the 147lb division.
"I've seen the fight. I've seen him knocking his opponent out with a body shot," Brook told Sky Sports.
"He's still learning, he's still young, and if he's anything like his dad, he will do very well. He's looking the part.
"I think it's baby steps with him. You don't want to fast-track him, he's still got a lot to learn, but he's definitely looking the part."
Benn admits he is still in the learning stages of his fledgling career and will target his 11th win on the undercard of Katie Taylor's first world title defence at York Hall on December 13, live on Sky Sports.
At the age of 28, Brook proved himself as world class in his 33rd bout, defeating Shawn Porter on points to claim the IBF belt in 2014, and wants the 21-year-old Benn to emerge as a future champion for Britain.

"I hope so. I've met him a few times and I've got so much respect for his dad," said Brook.
"I would love him to carry the flag at welterweight and represent our country, and be champion. I would want him to do that. I'm backing him all the way.
"Time will tell. We'll have to see when he steps up, if he's born and ready for those bright lights."
