Isaac Chamberlain says he will 'definitely meet' Lawrence Okolie next year

Isaac Chamberlain insists he is a “dog on the leash” as negotiations to fight Lawrence Okolie rumble on.

The unbeaten cruiserweight prospects from London are on a crash course to fight at The O2 on February 3, and a deal could be concluded soon.

"Okolie has signed the contract and now we're talking to Chamberlain's team about the fight, and the deal," promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports. "Providing he signs, we've got a fight."

As soon as [my team] says we're on him, then we're on him.

Chamberlain confirmed that his uncle and trainer Ted Bami was in talks, saying: "I'm a dog on the leash - as soon as [my team] says we're on him, then we're on him.

"Obviously it's up to my team to negotiate, and they are still in talks."

Chamberlain and Okolie's rivalry gained momentum after a confrontation at York Hall last month.

"He's arrogant and thinks he's a world champion already," Chamberlain said. "Olympic boxing won't save you from 12 rounds. It's good that they underestimate my grit and determination. We'll definitely meet."

Okolie previously told Sky Sports: "I went to York Hall with my brother, where we were confronted by Chamberlain and some of his friends, and the difference between him and me is - he just wants to be talking, I want action.

"As soon as that conversation was over, I asked the match-makers to make the fight happen.

"Me and my team have pushed to make it happen. Do you get where I am coming from?"

Brixton's Chamberlain is 9-0 while former Olympian Okolie, from Hackney, is 6-0.
