If you're Jamie McDonnell, do you aim to clean up at bantamweight or step up immediately?

Jamie says: He has been talking about hanging around at bantamweight and maybe getting another fight in before Christmas. I don't think that's a bad idea in itself but I think any more than that and he risks maybe losing to somebody due to struggling with weight issues.

WBA bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell wants to fight Scott Quigg

At 29 he's not a young lad coming through anymore and the older you get, the more difficult it is to do the weight. There are some huge fights waiting for him at super-bantamweight so it's not as if he has to go up there and have a couple of tester fights. He's a world champion and could step up straight away and go in to big fights.

Four pounds isn't a great deal of weight to put on but it is when you're getting it off. It's a fine line. I think super-bantamweight will suit him better because it may give him an extra sharpness in his punches.

Are you one of those doubting this is actually Floyd Mayweather Jr's last fight?

I think he's written a script. It might be six months or even 12 months before he pops up and says that he's going to go for the 50th. He's so good at playing the public and using it to his advantage. He can tell the rhythms of the public and the way that people will react.

Jamie doubts whether the Berto fight will be Mayweather's last

If he only left it a short while then everyone would say 'I told you so' so I think, with him being a master of timing, he'll time it just right. It'll be a massive occasion. The Andre Berto fight hasn't really got people's attention - you wouldn't even think Floyd was boxing on Saturday and he won't like that!

He won't want to finish his career like that.

What impact does Saturday night have on the prospective Anthony Joshua v Dillian Whyte bout?

It's a showcase for them both and can really whet the appetite for December. A lot of times, a situation like this will really sway people's opinions and someone can come through and shine. It can make people question their original predictions.

Dillian Whyte

I'm sure Whyte will put in a performance that makes people realise he's got a chance against Joshua, because he definitely has. Whyte is a serious fighter in his own right and the only reason Joshua is favourite is because of how explosive he's been. Whyte has impressed but on smaller stages.

Whyte can definitely fight so it'll be interesting to see people's reactions after Saturday night.

How is Tommy Coyle doing and what's next for him?

As we speak he's 30,000 feet in the air on the way to Las Vegas. He's taken his Dad and his mates over there to watch the Mayweather fight.

He's been ticking over and is the lightest I've ever known him between fights, which is always a bonus. As he's getting older, he's maturing and realises he can't be messing around. The next few years will be vital to the rest of his life and he's definitely knuckling down. Don't forget, he's a couple of years younger than Luke Campbell.

Tommy Coyle
Image: Tommy Coyle is still learning his trade and will return soon

He's going to box in November - maybe on the Manchester card - and I want to get him in the gym because he's still got a lot of learning to do. I need to work on some things with him but I'm sure by next summer, he'll be in some big lightweight bouts. It's such a packed division that it'd be criminal for any of our lads to move on to the world stage without having come through some big domestic fights.

We saw Badou Jack and George Groves share a long stare-off. What was your longest stare-off?

Jamie says: Well, I've never wanted to have a fight outside the ring as much as I did in the weigh-in for the third fight against Michael Jones. I'd been disqualified in the second fight and there were quite a few people at the weigh-in for that reason. It ended peacefully but I was keyed up.

George Groves and Badou Jack arrive in Las Vegas ahead of their world title bout

The longest stare I've ever taken probably came from the missus. Sometimes when I'm in the bad books, I can feel her stare burning a hole in the side of my head. I must look like one of Mike Tyson's early opponents - absolutely crumbling and not wanting to make eye contact!
