Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg: Barry McGuigan says Quigg can have priority dressing room
Friday 26 February 2016 18:15, UK
Carl Frampton's manager Barry McGuigan says Scott Quigg can have his favourite dressing room at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night.
Team Frampton had suggested they were prepared to withdraw from the fight if WBA world super-bantamweight Quigg (31-0-2-KO23) was given priority facilities over visiting IBF holder Frampton (21-0-KO14) - but the visitors have now reneged on that threat.
Admitting playing mind games, McGuigan told Sky Sports: "We have relented on the dressing room. It was completely a fabrication from our point of view. We knew it would unsettle him.
"He showed his true colours. He has to have all his ducks in order. It rattled him. We're not bothered about it."
Thursday's final press conference centred around the issue but with the fight just a day away, Team Frampton have pulled the plug on the issue and revealed the whole thing was designed to unsettle Quigg, who is from nearby Bury.
Instead of the fighters squabbling over their surroundings ahead of the fight, the most significant incident during Friday's weigh-in was a brief fracas between trainers Joe Gallagher and Shane McGuigan.
