Andrew Flintoff has been appointed as the new president of the Professional Cricketers' Association.

The PCA acts as a representative body for first class cricketers and former cricketers in England and Wales.

The former England all-rounder replaces fellow Lancastrian David Lloyd, who succeeded Chris Broad in the role in 2013.

"It is a huge honour, especially as it will be the golden jubilee of the PCA in 2017," said Flintoff, in a statement released on Tuesday.

"I have been a PCA member for more than 20 years now. It is an organisation I am proud to be involved in."

Flintoff, 38, took 226 wickets and scored 3845 runs in 79 Test matches for England between 1998 and 2009.
