With the start of the inaugural Women's Super League on the horizon, former England captain Charlotte Edwards is stepping up her preparations.

The six-team tournament will feature a mix of talent from English cricket and abroad, and will get underway on July 30 as Yorkshire Diamonds take on Loughborough Lightning.

Edwards is part of the Southern Vipers along with New Zealand captain Suzie Bates.

Ahead of the start of the competition, Sportswomen spent a day with the duo to see how they are preparing.

After some singing in the car, Edwards and Bates swap their cricket bats for tennis rackets before coaching aspiring young cricketers.

Edwards recently revealed that tennis legend Steffi Graf was her sporting idol growing up.

"She was the one for me - I love tennis, love Wimbledon, so she was the obvious choice. I was actually a very good tennis player, but I just didn't have the same passion I had for it as cricket," she said.
