Moeen Ali hopes England can assert themselves in the series decider against Bangladesh in Chittagong after admitting they took a step backwards in Dhaka.
The hosts squared the series after defending 238-8 in the second one-day international on Sunday, when England's top order looked all at sea as they staggered to 26-4 off the first 10 overs.
While captain Jos Buttler emerged with credit after a run-a-ball 57, England's batsmen seemed to adopt a safety-first approach that has been the antithesis of the form that has seen them flourish since last year's woeful World Cup campaign.
Moeen admits that was the most disappointing aspect of the 34-run defeat and he is eager to put that right in the third and final ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "I think if we are going to lose we would rather lose playing the way we do normally, and that was the biggest disappointment. Jos played really well but nobody else did really.
"We were like the old England a bit. That's something we have highlighted. Sometimes it's going to happen but that's the first time in a couple of years we have done it so I'm sure it's just a one-off.
"We are pretty confident still. We know we let ourselves down the last game but we have put that to bed now and won't be taking a backward step. The best way for us to play is with aggressive cricket and keep attacking."
The second ODI was overshadowed by the incident that followed Buttler's dismissal, with the England captain engaged in angry exchanges with several Bangladesh fielders for what he felt were over-exuberant celebrations.
Buttler was given an official reprimand by the International Cricket Council and opposite number Mashrafe Mortaza and Sabbir Rahman were fined 20 per cent of their match fees for their part in the incident.
Moeen said: "(Jos) has a lot of fire in his belly. You should see the warm-ups, like the football, he's probably the most fiery out of all of us.
"He's probably not as calm as people think he is. He looks it, but he is very fiery in terms of his cricket, and is very passionate and gets fired up."
There was further controversy at the end of the match when the players were shaking hands as Ben Stokes seemed to confront Tamim Iqbal although the ICC decided not to investigate that incident.
Asked whether the flashpoints would up the ante for the decider, Moeen said: "It has a little bit. We really want to win the series and want to stop them winning too. We'll be giving everything for that."
Whether they get the chance remains to be seen. England were forced indoors after heavy rain an hour into their only practice session in Chittagong and poor weather is forecast for Wednesday's game.
