James Anderson was back to his best as Lancashire bowled out Cambridge MCCU for just 62 as they continued their preparations for Friday's Specsavers County Championship Division One opener.

The England seamer picked up 5-10 as the university side crumbled to concede a 276-run deficit on day two after Lancashire had declared on 338-6 on the first day.

Anderson removed both Cambridge openers late on day one and after seeing Kyle Jarvis (2-15) and Tom Bailey (1-6) take out the middle order, he returned to bowl No 3 Nipuna Senaratne, the only batsman to reach double figures, for 31.

Having accounted for the top three, Anderson then dismissed the tail, having Sam Rippington caught behind before bowling Adam Barton to bring the innings to an end.

Despite going for less than one and over from his 11 overs, Anderson was not the most economic of Lancashire's bowlers. That honour went to spinner Stephen Parry, who did not concede a run from his four overs and picked up two wickets.

Lancashire managed only 120-7 declared in their second innings but then produced another stellar effort with the ball, skittling Cambridge out for just 56 to win by 340 runs inside two days, Anderson taking another wicket.

The Red Rose county will hope that their bowling attack is in such good form come Friday when they take on newly-promoted Essex at Chelmsford.
