Seamer Stuart Broad looks unlikely to play in the third Test against India after missing England's first net practice in Mohali ahead of the match.
Broad, who bowled impressively through the pain of a strained tendon in his right foot in the second Test defeat, appears highly unlikely to recover in time to play again on Saturday.
He stayed behind at the team hotel, wearing his 'moon boot' to try to accelerate his recovery, but England look certain to recall Chris Woakes as they seek to level the series.
Woakes bowled well in the first Test, albeit only taking one wicket, and admits he was frustrated to miss out in Vizag.
"I'm fit and available for selection. It felt like the first Test went pretty well in terms of the way I bowled, so to have that break in the second Test means I'm fresh and ready to go," he said.
"You always want to play. You don't want to miss any Test match, particularly when you feel like you're in decent form, so it's one of those things with long series.
"It's one of the things you have to take into consideration as a captain and coach when you have four seamers, but the knee is fine and ready to go. I've been managing it for a while so I know I can get through a Test match without too many problems.
"There's not much grass on that wicket, so I can't expect it to do too much for the seamers," he added.
"I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see that the ends are a bit more trimmed than the middle of the pitch, so therefore we're expecting it to spin."
Jos Buttler is also expected to win a return to the side as a specialist batsman at the expense of Ben Duckett, who has struggled at No 4 in the first two matches.
