Alastair Cook is not expected to make an imminent announcement on his future as England captain, Sky sources understand.

Cook is set to meet with England team director Andrew Strauss on Friday to discuss the recent 4-0 Test series defeat in India but the 32-year-old is not being pushed for a decision about whether he wants to continue in the role.

The England and Wales Cricket Board are keen not to take the emphasis off a long run of limited-overs cricket, with England not playing another Test until July.

Cook has been in charge of England since 2012, when he took over from Strauss, but his future has come into question in recent weeks.

He recently passed Michael Atherton's record of 54 Tests in charge and his total now stands at 59 after the series in India.

That heavy defeat made it three successive series without a win for his side following draws at home to Pakistan and in Bangladesh.
