West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has been suspended from bowling in international cricket after being found to have an illegal action.

Narine was reported after the third one-day international against Sri Lanka in Pallekelle earlier this month and ordered to undergo an independent assessment.

That assessment, in Loughborough, revealed all variations of his delivery exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under ICC regulations.

The 27-year-old is currently No 1 in the ICC one-day and Twenty20 bowling rankings.

Narine can apply for a re-assessment after modifying his bowling action in accordance with clause 2.4 of the suspect bowling action regulations.
