England women's wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor is to take a break from domestic cricket.

The 26-year-old's decision comes after she had a disappointing ICC World Twenty20 campaign with England in India this spring.

An England and Wales Cricket Board spokesperson said: "Sarah is taking a break from cricket at the moment having decided to take some personal time away from the game."

Former England women's cricket captain Charlotte Edwards insists she would have played on instead of retiring from international cricket

The ECB still appears optimistic, however, that Taylor may be back for international duty in the series against Pakistan starting next month, as well as this summer's inaugural Kia Super League.

"We will support her, keep in touch and talk with her prior to selection for the Pakistan series and the start of the Kia Super League," added the spokesperson.

Taylor's decision to take a break comes only days after England's long-serving captain Charlotte Edwards announced her international retirement.
