2015 Track World Championships to take place in new velodrome in Paris

France’s new national velodrome will host the 2015 Track World Championships.

The 5,000 capacity arena in Saint Quentin en Yvelines, south west Paris, will stage the event from February 18 to 22.

UCI president Brian Cookson said: "We were very impressed by the new velodrome of Saint Quentin en Yvelines at the inauguration and are delighted that track cycling's flagship event will be staged in these state-of-the-art facilities, in front of passionate and knowledgeable spectators.

The French Cycling Federation (FFC) will organise the competition and its president David Lappartient said: "France is honoured by the UCI's decision.

“The French Cycling Federation and its stakeholders are delighted to host the UC World Championships in our brand new national velodrome.

"Creating these globally recognised facilities was our objective at the FFC. The organisation of major cycling events is a reflection of our ambitions for the development of French cycling."

The UCI also announced the rounds of the UCI Track World Cup 2014-2015 would take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, on November 8-9, London on December 5-7 and Cali, Colombia, on January 17-18.
