Michael van Gerwen cruised into the World Grand Prix quarter-finals with a 3-0 win against James Wilson on Wednesday.
The imperious world No 1 was never unduly troubled by the plucky Wilson - at one point he missed six doubles to start a leg, but still roared back to win it.
Wilson had started with a 156 check-out that got the crowd off their feet but that only served to anger Van Gerwen who roared through three sets to keep his bid for a third title alive.
Steve West's run came to a grinding halt at the hands of Daryl Gurney, who dished out a ruthless 3-0 win.
West shot to fame in the previous round by eliminating Phil 'The Power' Taylor but couldn't break Gurney's throw, and was shown the exit door despite some decent finishing.
Gurney had only just recovered from a broken hand but quickly dampened West's momentum with reliable finishing on his doubles.
Simon Whitlock won a final leg shoot-out in 10 darts against the throw to dispose of Alan 'Chuck' Norris.
Whitlock had been leading by two sets for the concession of just one leg, but Norris staged a commendable fightback that eventually fell just short.
Norris found himself 2-1 up in the deciding set but Whitlock found a 150 check-out, then won the match in the last with a magical 10-dart leg.
Dave Chisnall outclassed Brendan Dolan to claim a 3-1 win that could have been more comfortable.
Chisnall appeared likely to claim all three sets, hitting an 11-darter in the second until Dolan pipped him, but it was never enough to trouble the result.
