The first double session of the World Darts Championship sees No 1 seed Michael van Gerwen take to the oche at Alexandra Palace live on Sky Sports Darts from 7pm.

Saturday's first session features Dutch dark horse Benito van de Pas tackling either Malaysia's Tengku Shah or Japan's Masumi Chino.

Former semi-finalist Terry 'The Bull' Jenkins faces youngster Josh Payne and Scotland's John Henderson goes up against Andrew Gilding.

Then it's the turn of Van Gerwen on Saturday evening as he bids for his second title on darts' biggest stage.

'The Green Machine' has been in irresistible form in 2016, winning 25 tournaments and is aiming to regain the world title he first lifted at the venue in 2014.

He meets either Canada's Ross Snook or Finland's Kim Viljanen, with former Lakeside Champion Stephen Bunting taking on Darren Webster and Spain's Cristo Reyes facing the all-dancing Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh.
