Kim Huybrechts set up a meeting with Phil Taylor after beating Max Hopp in the second round of the 2017 World Darts Championship

Kim Huybrechts fired a warning to old rival Phil Taylor after beating Max Hopp to set up a fiesty World Championship last-16 showdown.

The 13th seed blew away German no 1 Max Hopp for the loss of just five legs on Wednesday afternoon and he will now meet the 16-time world champion for a place in the quarter-finals.

The pair met in 2015 with Taylor edging out the Hurricane 4-3 to book a place in the last eight, but when the pair meet their seems an added edge, with Taylor unhappy with Huybrechts' on-stage antics.

Huybrechts has not always endeared himself to other competitors with his over-zealous celebrations but after admitting he is trying to control his emotions he couldn't help but let The Power know what he is in for.

"I am trying to - the more you give it big time the more they (the crowd) are against you," he told Sky Sports.

"Sometimes it is hard for me to control but I am the way I am and it has worked against me a little bit with the fans and with some players, so I am trying to find a middle way.

"As long as I am winning it doesn't matter. I feel insecure on stage and that's why I do the things I do on stage.

"I am focused and it is working. I will try to do the same things and I don't really care what Phil Taylor says or does.

"Last year he tried to say something that would annoy me, but it's not going to happen this year - I am going to play my own game, no war of words."

Wayne Mardle believes the situation will overtake Huybrechts and playing the board will not be an option.

"He will react to Phil, and if he wins a set with a big 117 he will give it the big un because the adrenaline dicatets how you react.

"There was no need to show off against Max or wind him up.

"He will want to wind Phil Taylor up and if that's what works for Kim Huybrechts do it, do what comes naturally - don't hide behind something else because that's what people want to see."
