Phil Taylor could barely contain his excitement at setting up a quarter-final meeting with Raymond van Barneveld at the World Darts Championship

On Friday, and almost 10 years to the day from their memorable 2007 World Championship final, the pair will clash on the Alexandra Palace stage in a last-eight showdown that will bring the memories flooding back.

The tungsten titans played out what many have described as the greatest match the sport has ever seen on New Year's Day in 2007 - Barney won a magnificent final 7-6 and while Friday's clash will be a first-to-five showdown, the legendary duo are in the kind of form that could see that spellbinding occasion reproduced.

With 21 titles between them, both men are targeting a memorable swansong and they have talked up their chances of a title.

So far both have also displayed the kind of form that could take them to yet another crown, Barney would end a 10-year wait while Taylor last claimed the crown in 2013.
