Phil Taylor’s psychological warfare was on show during a draw against Kim Huybrechts on Thursday, believes Wayne Mardle.
Taylor salvaged a 6-6 draw in Premier League Darts in Brighton in a spiky encounter and afterwards, he signed the dartboard but did not offer Huybrechts a chance to also mark the occasion.
"It's just Phil trying to annoy him, and it worked," Mardle said.
"Kim has to be stronger next time something similar happens. Collect your darts and walk off. It's one-upmanship.
"It annoyed Kim, and Phil knew it would - that's why he did it.
"If you're worried about that, you're worried about the wrong thing. It's all about performances, and winning. It's irrelevant."
Taylor and Huybrechts have historically endured a feisty relationship, with the Belgian accusing his rival of being "disrespectful" after their latest encounter.
"It's become apparent that Phil doesn't like the way Kim celebrates," Mardle said.
"There's people in life that you just don't get on with. Unfortunately, these two are competing! It's only the second time in 12 matches that he hasn't lost to Phil."
