wayne mardle

The hunt for the Premier League Darts' play-offs is hotting up, but Wayne Mardle knows who will edge ahead in the race...

As it stands after 14 games each

Points Leg difference
Van Gerwen (Q) 22 +33
Wright (Q) 19 +19
Anderson 16 +11
Taylor 15 +1
Van Barneveld 14 -2
Lewis 13 -7
Chisnall 13 -7
Wade 12 -9

Peter Wright v Adrian Lewis

BETWAY PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS 2016.MOTORPOINT ARENA,NOTTINGHAM.PIC;LAWRENCE LUSTIG.PETER WRIGHT V ADRIAN LEWIS.PETER WRIGHT IN ACTION

Wright has qualified but will still want to finish second. He's never finished that high before so he'll want to cement the spot, and no-one wants to be fourth. If he has a disaster for two weeks he could finish fourth, it's a possibility.

Wright keeps grinding it out. This is a tough one to call. Lewis has gone missing in the past two weeks.

I'm going to go for Wright but I'm not sure how good this match will be…

Highlights from last week

Raymond van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall

20/4/17: Dave Chisnall v Adrian Lewis. Belfast. Picture: Michael Cooper

Chizzy is unbeaten in five and will fancy it against Raymond. Why shouldn't he? These players are all so good that if they can get on a rich vein of form, they can make massive inroads by damaging the progress of others.

Chizzy has drawn three of the last five but he's not losing anymore so he's propelled himself, not necessarily up the table, but points-wise. He's only gone up one spot. But he's gone from being an also-ran. Can he get through? Yes, which is outrageous.

Barney will leave tops, and Chizzy will take out double nine with his last dart to win 7-5.

Form, fixtures and expert analysis

James Wade v Gary Anderson

Gary Anderson James Wade World Matchplay Darts

It would be very hard for James to qualify, the other results would need to go his way. Gary hasn't looked that great every week, has he?

Gary was diabolical on his doubles against Wright but averaged 113. He never looked like he would get a double with his first dart. There is no rhythm to what he's doing.

Also See:

Gary is too good for Wade, he'll win 7-4. This is the worst I've seen Wade in the Premier League, he's been all over the shop.
Wayne's prediction

Michael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor

Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen

Taylor isn't in Van Gerwen's quality - Phil has had his time being the best, and it's now Michael's time. Michael isn't the kind of human being that you or I are - he's definitely qualified but he'll want to finish top. Michael is a different animal and he won't relent.

Michael has Anderson in his last game and he won't want it going to the last game.

Michael could win the league on Thursday if he wins, and that's what I think he'll do.
