Speaking ahead of the Italian GP qualifying sessions, Ferrari boss Sergio Marchionne told Craig Slater the team had failed in this year's objectives.

Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne admits the team haven't hit the targets set, but isn't predicting further changes to senior personnel.

Marchionne radically overhauled Ferrari's staff after becoming president in 2014 with two team principals, Stefano Domenicali and Marco Mattiacci, engineering director Pat Fry and chief designer Nikolas Tombazis all high profile departures, along with Fernando Alonso.

2014 - Ferrari's year of turmoil

However, the changes have yielded just three wins, all of which came in 2015, and Ferrari still appear a long way from their first world title since 2008 having seemingly slipped behind Red Bull in the 2016 pecking order.

"We failed the targets - I don't think there's a doubt in my mind," Marchionne told Sky Sports News HQ.

"There's no use putting sweeteners on the stuff, the car isn't there. I don't think we developed it. We started well in Australia, but we failed in developing the car during the season, which is due to a variety of reasons.

Martin Brundle looks back at Ferrari's recent story focussing on the 2014 season and the Ferrari F14T.

"Postmortems on this have been done ad nausea now, I think we're done. We have made changes to the leadership team and I feel comfortable this team of people are quite capable to turning the fate of the Scuderia around.

"Unfortunately we don't have a lot of season left. But already here, in terms of the changes we've made with the car, I feel a lot more comfortable than I did in the past.

"Let them finish the season, I think we'll do the best we can do for the best of '16, the fight starts in 2017 in the first race."
