MacDonald back on loan at Gulls

League Two club Torquay have secured Reading centre-back Angus MacDonald on loan for the second time in 12 months.

The 20-year-old, who spent three months with the Gulls at the end of last season, will provide defensive cover until January 6. "Angus is here for six weeks to see if he was the same player we had here last time, because he was fine for us last time," manager Martin Ling said. "It didn't really work for him at Wimbledon and I think he would be the first to say his chances at Reading are very slim. We know he did a good job for us and I am comfortable about him as a player. "The thinking all season is that we are one light in natural centre-halves. So with four natural centre-halves at the football club now we know we'll be ok for these nine games." Torquay make the long journey to York on Saturday looking to win for the first time this month.
