Scunthorpe bring in Osbourne

Scunthorpe have signed former Blackpool midfielder Isaiah Osbourne on a short-term contract.

Osbourne becomes new manager Mark Robins' first signing for the Iron, after putting pen to paper on a deal until January. The 26-year-old former Aston Villa trainee has been a free agent since leaving Championship club Blackpool at the end of last season. He played 24 times for the Seasiders during the 2013/14 campaign. Earlier this week it looked like Osbourne would sign for Scunthorpe's League One rivals Port Vale, where he had been training. Vale are thought to have offered the box-to-box midfielder a contract, but he is understood to have turned down the opportunity in favour of a move to Glanford Park. A quirk of the fixture list sees the Iron travel to Vale Park to face the Valiants on Tuesday night.
