Saints land Gunners goalkeeper

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has signed goalkeeper James Shea on a month-long loan deal from Arsenal.

Shea's arrival at St Mary's comes as a result of injury to Bartosz Bialkowski, who has picked up a knock in training and is being assessed. The 19-year-old goes straight into Adkins' squad for Saturday's trip to Rochdale. Shea is rated highly at the Emirates Stadium and recently penned a contract extension with Arsene Wenger's side. Although he can represent both England and the Republic of Ireland, the talented youngster is yet to play international football although his qualities have been recognised by Fabio Capello, who last year drafted him into the Three Lions' training preparations.
