Dons suffer Doumbe blow

MK Dons defender Mathias Doumbe will miss the start of the new season after suffering an ankle injury.

The 31-year-old centre-half sustained the problem in last week's friendly defeat at Oxford and scans have gone on to show ligament damage which could keep him out until mid-September. Head of sports medicine Simon Crampton said: "It is too early to put a definitive time scale on it but we expect Mathias to be out of action for a minimum of six weeks. "Mathias will wear an air cast boot for two weeks, this will give the ligament the best opportunity to heal. "From that point we will continue to monitor his progress and design a rehabilitation programme to ensure a successful return to fitness."
