Preston striker Jamie Proctor is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after being told he requires surgery on a hernia.

The 19-year-old, who has scored twice this season, is set to go under the knife on November 1 but will be available until then. "We've got the operation booked in as early as possible and I'm going to try and get back as quick as I can," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "I'm available for selection, hopefully I can take part in the next two games." Proctor is set to feature for Preston in their League One match against Oldham on Tuesday night with manager Phil Brown already without injured strikers Neil Mellor and Iain Hume.
