League Two side Northampton have extended the loan spell of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino until next year.

Berahino joined the League Two club on a month-long deal on October 20 but has impressed Cobblers manager Gary Johnson so much in his first two appearances that he has had his stay at Sixfields prolonged until January 2, 2012. West Brom will be able to recall Berahino, 18, from his loan spell until November 20. Johnson said: "West Brom have given us permission to keep Saido until at least January and then we will look at it again. They have also given us permission for him to play in the FA Cup, which is good as well because that is another important game for us. "I think Saido is getting better and better and I think his partnership with Bayo (Adebayo Akinfenwa) will be a good one. "I know West Brom rate him very highly. This is the early part of his learning and I am really pleased that West Brom have allowed us to keep him for a bit longer."
