Skipper keen to boost Addicks

Captain Johnnie Jackson is ready to give Charlton's promotion bid a major boost, according to manager Chris Powell.

The midfielder has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury in mid-November but could return for the televised clash at Leyton Orient on New Year's Eve. "Johnnie's been fine. He needs the training now because of the amount of time he's been out and he's looked good and looked strong," said Powell ahead of the trip to east London. "He did a lot of good work before he joined the group and it's almost like he hasn't been away. "That's good for him and we are hopeful that means he will be in contention for Orient or, at worst, Brentford. "Because of the two games in three days it will be good to have him back and ready."
