Loanees back with Gulls

Torquay trio Lloyd Macklin, Ed Palmer and Ray Spear have returned to Plainmoor from their respective loan spells.

Macklin spent a month with Salisbury, Palmer enjoyed a six-month stint at Truro and Spear continued his development at Bideford. Gulls manager Martin Ling was disappointed with the amount of match action Macklin saw during his time away from Devon, while he revealed Palmer could have extended his deal at Truro but for the transfer embargo which currently hangs over the Cornish club. He told Torquay's official website: "Lloyd did okay but he didn't really get as much pitch-time as we wanted. However, he did come on and score against Sheffield United (in the FA Cup) last Saturday. "I was looking for him to play more minutes than has actually worked out so it's one we can put down as an okay loan but not perfect. "Truro were talking about doing something with Ed, which I didn't say no to, but I think they've got a transfer embargo."
