Stopper rates Blades maestro

Sheffield United goalkeeper Steve Simonsen rates team-mate Kevin McDonald as one of the best players currently in League One.

McDonald, 23, was a free summer signing following his release from Burnley in May, and after overcoming injury earlier in the season has established himself as a regular starter for Danny Wilson's side. Simonsen said: "He's really blossomed has Kevin in the last few months. He struggled with a couple of niggling little injuries when he first came. "But he's got a place in the midfield now and when you see him get the ball down he can do anything with it, he breaks play up, he gets his passes out, he knows when to steady things and he works ever so hard as well. "The only thing that's missing from his game at the moment is a goal or two, but I've not seen anybody better on the ball in this league."
