Timlin sees Shrimpers rise

Midfielder Michael Timlin believes Southend's promotion bid has not been derailed by their recent slump.

Paul Sturrock's side remain in an automatic promotion spot despite taking just one point from their last three matches. Five points separate the top six sides and Timlin thinks that despite recent defeats to fellow high-fliers Shrewsbury and Swindon, the Shrimpers are well placed to go up. "We definitely all think we can get promotion," he told the Echo. "If someone had given us this scenario at the start of the season then we would have jumped at the chance because we're still in a great position. "We're disappointed with how the last few games have gone but we can't change that now. "It's going to be close up there but there's no reason why we can't go on another good run like we did earlier on in the season."
