Johnson wrapped in cotton wool

Gary Megson is prepared to wrap Sheffield Wednesday's Jermaine Johnson in cotton wool for the rest of the season to preserve his fitness.

Jamaica international winger Johnson has burst back on to the scene at Hillsborough with three stunning goals in his last five appearances and Owls manager Megson was keen to rest him for the midweek FA Cup replay defeat to Blackpool. Megson said: "Jermaine is arguably playing his most consistent football. He has taken over from Ben Marshall and has scored more than Ben, but he doesn't create quite as many. "But we need to keep him fit, he has a history of hamstring injuries, so we wanted to give him a breather. "He played against Yeovil and will play against Exeter, so we need to manage that."
