Preston midfielder Adam Barton has undergone an operation after the horror injury he suffered on Saturday.

The 21-year-old will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his ankle and fracturing his leg during the goalless draw against Walsall. Preston say the surgery, on Monday evening, was a success and and passed without any complications. Manager Graham Westley hopes to have Barton, who has started 17 matches and scored two goals this term, back fit in time for the start of next season.
