Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd has agreed to sign Coventry City striker Clive Platt on a two-year deal.

The 34-year-old made 33 league appearances for the Sky Blues last season, scoring four times. Boothroyd, who worked with the 6ft 4in forward at Coventry, told the club's official website: "Clive is a player I know well and he is the most under-rated player I have ever managed. "I'm always happy to bring players in who are above the level we're playing at and I think Clive is one of those. "He is very experienced, he is a leader on and off the pitch, he has a fantastic attitude and anyone who can score more than 100 goals and play more than 600 games is someone to respect. "He was my number one target in the centre-forward position and it's not often you sign your number one target. I'm very pleased to reach this agreement."
