Syers blow for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe midfielder David Syers faces a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury in the defeat at Swindon.

The 26-year-old was hurt in an early challenge at the County Ground before being withdrawn in the 10th minute and player and club are waiting to learn the full extent of the damage. "It's not looking good for Dave," manager Russ Wilcox told the club's official website. "We don't know the extent of it, but we know it's a knee injury. "He's got a brace on at the moment and he's on crutches, it looks a longer-term injury and everybody hopes he will be back soon because he played such a part in our promotion last season."
