Boss Chris Powell could barely hide his disappointment after Charlton lost 3-0 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to Brentford.
Powell made changes from the side which currently tops League One but was still unhappy as goals from Blair Adams, a Kevin O'Connor penalty and Toumani Diagouraga fired last season's runners-up into the southern area quarter-finals. Powell said: "I know I've made changes and I know people are trying to say where your priorities are, but I don't like losing football matches. "I'm disappointed all round for everyone. I wasn't too happy at half-time and I'm still not too happy now, but we've lost a game of football and never really got to grips with the whole evening in my eyes. "I don't want people to devalue the competition because at the end of it is a trip to Wembley. "Brentford went there last year, they know exactly what it can bring to the club and the players and more importantly the supporters, so it wasn't the greatest evening I've ever enjoyed. But I'm going to make sure nobody is injured and we move on."
