Southampton star Lee Barnard has been charged in connection with an attack outside a pub which left a man unconscious and with head injuries.

Barnard is accused of assault causing actual bodily harm outside the White House bar in Above Bar Street in the Hampshire city. The 27-year-old victim needed hospital treatment for his injuries following the incident in the early hours of October 3 last year, according to Hampshire Police. As well as Barnard, 26, of Ocean Village, Southampton, two other men have been charged in connection with the incident. Liam Shelton, 26, from Shakespeare Avenue, Billericay, Essex, is charged with assault by battery and David Jones, 31, from Rowan Gardens, Hedge End, Hampshire, with obstructing a police officer and threatening behaviour. A fourth man, aged 25 and also from Billericay, has been released with no further action. The three charged men have been bailed until Wednesday February 2 when they are due to appear before Southampton Magistrates' Court.
