Ward hails Cousins' character

Colchester United manager John Ward has praised goalkeeper Mark Cousins for bouncing back from his early-season jitters.

Cousins was at fault for two Darren Bent goals in the recent Carling Cup defeat at Sunderland and let in a late equaliser against Carlisle last week. But the 23-year-old was back to his best as Colchester secured a 1-0 win at Walsall on Saturday. "I was really pleased with Mark," said Ward. "He was desperately unhappy to concede a late goal against Carlisle. But all credit to him, he has kept a clean sheet. He is mentally tough."
