City striker keen on U's move

Exeter City striker Jamie Cureton has issued a 'come and get me' plea to League One rivals Colchester United.

The veteran striker, 35, is poised to leave Exeter this summer on a free transfer and has an unnamed club lined up having held talks with a host of managers. But Cureton has revealed he would put any move on hold if U's boss John Ward was to strengthen his interest. "I've spoken to a number of clubs and I'm pretty close to signing for one of them. My agent did speak to Colchester a couple of weeks ago, though, and I'd be very interested in speaking to them again," Cureton told the Exeter Express and Echo. "I have spoken to a number of clubs in League One and League Two and I want to get something sorted out by next week if possible. If Colchester were to get back in touch, though, I would hold off a bit longer to see what they said." Cureton enjoyed a prolific single season with Colchester in 2006/07 in which he was the Championship's leading scorer before completing a contentious move to Norwich for an undisclosed fee.
