Sheffield Wednesday defender Lewis Buxton's hamstring injury was the catalyst for manager Gary Megson's latest foray into the loan market.
Buxton has been ruled out for a month, while Megson also revealed on-going concerns about the fitness of skipper Rob Jones prompted the club's decision this week to draft in Newcastle's James Tavernier and Miguel Llera, from Blackpool. Megson told the club's official website: "We've lost Lewis for a month, which is a blow. But we had the opportunity to take James Tavernier, who is a good player - not an experienced player - but he's quick, handles the ball well, is a good defender and has a bit of a personality about him." Megson added: "Miguel did well for Brentford while on loan there against us recently. He too handles the ball well and has good size and stature. "Rob Jones is suspended on Saturday and has issues with his nose at times. After Thursday's deadline for loans, we can't do anything until January. If anything goes wrong after that, you're stretched. "We have a few problems at the moment and we have to get through them. We have to put in the sort of performance given in the second half at Tranmere when we were without Gary and Lewis."
