McGoldrick to fight for place

Sheffield Wednesday's David McGoldrick will fight for his place after the return of Chris O'Grady and Ryan Lowe from injury.

The 23-year-old has started both of the Owls' league games since recently arriving from Nottingham Forest on an emergency loan deal, but faces added competition for a place in Gary Megson's starting line-up as O'Grady and Lowe have recovered from respective foot and ankle injuries. McGoldrick said: "When you come to a big club like Sheffield Wednesday, there will not be just one or two strikers, there will be four or five. "Chris O'Grady and Ryan Lowe are both back now so there is definitely going to be competition for places, which is a good thing. "Gary Madine is in great form, he's still young and will keep improving as a player. He just needs to keep his head down and keep scoring and the sky is the limit."
