Timlin mulls over Shrimpers stay

Michael Timlin is enjoying his loan spell with Southend but does not know where his long-term future lies.

The midfielder is on loan with the Shrimpers until January from League Two rivals Swindon and has 18 months left on his contract at the County Ground. "I am loving it at Southend but things can change very quickly in football and I'm not sure what will happen when my loan is up," he told the Echo. "I'm very grateful for the contract Swindon gave me and if I had a deal which ran out in January then I would be getting concerned. But this way I can just focus on my football and then the two clubs sort things out between themselves." Southend will clash with Timlin's parent club in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Area semi-final, which means he is unlikely to play any part. He added: "I haven't been told for definite at the moment if I can be involved in the game but it's my understanding at the moment that I won't be able to play."
