Clark admits captaincy plight

Huddersfield manager Lee Clark accepts it is not an ideal situation to keep skipper Peter Clarke on the substitutes' bench.

But centre-back Clarke has been unable to force his way back into the Terriers' starting line-up since shaking off a back injury due to the current form of Jamie McCombe and Antony Kay. McCombe and Kay were outstanding again as Town extended their unbeaten league run to 34 matches at MK Dons over the weekend. Boss Clark said: "Antony Kay and Jamie McCombe are playing very well, which gives me another issue because I'm having to leave my club captain Peter Clarke on the bench." Clarke last appeared for Huddersfield in the 5-3 Carling Cup defeat at Cardiff last month and has not featured in the last six matches.
