Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Steve Phillips has agreed a new two-year deal with the club.

The 34-year-old played a vital role in the Alex's promotion to League One via the play-offs last season and the former Bristol City and Bristol Rovers goalkeeper has been rewarded with a contract which keeps him at Gresty Road until 2014. Phillips joined Steven Davis' side on a permanent basis in 2010 after a successful loan spell with the Railwaymen. He has also agreed to take up a role as the club's academy goalkeeping coach, a position required to be filled under the new Elite Player Performance Plan.
