Morgan: Play-offs a fresh start

Sheffield United caretaker manager Chris Morgan has urged his team to treat their play-off campaign as a "brand new season".

The Blades go into the first leg of their semi-final against Yeovil at Bramall Lane on Thursday night in dreadful form, having won only one of their final eight games of the regular League One season. They failed to score in their last three games and enter their seventh play-off campaign still waiting for a first success, with last season's final defeat to Huddersfield fresh in the memory. But Morgan is only interested in the future and knows his players have a new opportunity to end their season on a high. "It's a brand new season," he said. "We have got a three-game knockout. "In previous seasons we have finished third and whoever finished third is always disappointed because they haven't got automatic promotion, for us for the last couple of weeks we have been gearing up for the play-offs. "We have been able to sit back and prepare and have a look at a couple of things. Is that an advantage? We will find out. "From our point of view we have had that time. "We're in the play-offs with three other clubs and they all deserve to be in there. And now it comes down to a three-game knockout, and the team that handles the situations better will come out on top. "This time round, everything is new. It's a new team, there's been a change in manager and I think all the games are different."
